Okay, I did a little poking around and here's a good section on GPS on Wikipedia to read if you want to know the way the locations are calculated and the sources of error. Here's a summary: Sources of User Equivalent Range Errors (UERE) Source ......................... Effect Ionospheric effects.......

If you are really interested in understanding more about how this works you need to get something that will show you the instantaneous readings that your GPS receiver is giving to the program. I can't give you a technical description but I've seen it and it seems to be absolutely normal. Let me shar...

And thanks from me, too, Scott. As another Canadian I also have problems with that great honking donut "cursor" and I will very much appreciate something that is finer. A "+" or crosshairs or whatever it's called with really skinny arms would be great.

Okay, I finally got a moment to download the latest version of the manual. The front page of the copy I got with my original purchase and the new one I just downloaded both say that they were last updated on 12 Dec 2005. That's obviously way wrong. The first clue is that there are a mess of icons mi...

I've been away for a couple of weeks. I thought I was pretty accurate in my initial report. That entire section in the user manual for the handheld software that was included in my download is outdated. Almost nothing matches the software. .. Additional/different items in the menus than are shown in...

Thanks for the clarification, Scott. That is very good information to have. 45° seems quite tolerant.

I reproduced this. It happens if I calibrate a map using 3 or more Known Points and the calibration with these points is not right. Ie. Forces more skewing to the map then the engine can handle. Please check your Calibration points. Scott, I don't understand what you mean: "calibration with these p...

When I zoom in in the map manager (4.00.02) to a point where it requires horizontal scrolling, the horizontal scroll bar appears at the bottom of the window and functions just as you would expect. I tried it with the window maximized and with it just partial screen. I tried it in just the detail vie...

Pathaway does none of that. It has no routing ability of any kind. That is because it uses raster maps. Raster maps are just bitmaps, eg. pictures on the screen. Because of that, Pathaway has no way to figure out that a given group of pixels represents a road or whether they represent an outhouse. W...

That's strange ... My iQue 3600 ALWAYS start with the grafitti area open! :?: :? :?: Yes Anders, so does mine. If I then close down the Grafitti Panel, let the map go to full screen, exit PW and then tap on the PW icon, it opens up with the Grafitti panel showing again. I don't think it's relevant ...

Calibration Section out of date - User Manual - Palm OS

The entire Calibration section of the User Manual is wrong. I assume it is from an earlier version. There are more selections on the PDA than in the manual. I assume that it will be updated in due course. In the mean time is there a detailled explanation of using the "nudge" method somewhere? I got ...

Missing Icons - User Manual - Palm OS

In the User Manual for the Palm OS that was installed with PW4, none of the icons for the top row of the map screen display. For instance, beginning on Page 16 of the manual it shows a map screen and talks about the Map Zoom In and Map Zoom Out buttons. Where the icons are supposed to be there is ju...

That is also where mine are going. Pathaway was nice enough to create its own folders at the root of the card and under the Palm folder, but when I select the SD card as the map destination the end up in Palm/Launcher like yours. I manually moved them to the \PATHAWAY folder and Pathaway finds them ...

Anders, Okay, I see what you are referring to. If the GPS is already active and you launch PathAway4 it asks if you want to connect to the GPS and continue your trip. Annoying. I can't imagine why someone thought it was a good question in the first place, especially to make it so obtrusive like that...
