from NASA - Blue Marble: Land Surface, Shallow Water, and Shaded Topography

Image

I cut the 43200x21600 pixel image (642MB TIFF) into 8 tiles (10800x10800 pixel) - converted them into ECW format and calibrated them for TTQV.

BlMrbECW.zip (35.5MB)

have fun - Anton

Hi Patrick,

you have to install TTQV, import the maps and export them to Pathaway.

Unfortunately, I don’t have TTQV. Can you please post your maps in pathaway format ?

Thanks for your help,

Patrick

no problem - just download the newest version of TTQV from here: http://www.ttqv.com/en/html/download_software.html

I can't post the maps in Pathaway format because of limited bandwith
You can use TTQV for 25 days without restrictions and convert all maps to Pathaway format. If you want to use TTQV for longer, you can register - it's worth every cent
Can you imagine how big the files are - 43200 x 21600 pixel, 8bit color? The original TIFF files needs 642 MB.

hi,

this feature you found by clicking on the disk symbol is not for maps  It's for tracks, waypoints or routes.

You have to use the feature "Export Map to PDA Pathaway" in the "File" menue, which is greyed out unless you have a map window open (and active). The steps are as follows:

- download TTQV and BlMrbECW.zip

- install TTQV and expand BlMrbECW.zip (all maps and calibration files into one directory)

- import all maps by selecting a database, clicking on the CD symbol, navigating to the directory containing all map and calibration files, and select to import all maps

- open a map window by double clicking on one of the 8 maps in the map folder inside the open database

now you can start the "Export Map to PDA Pathaway" process . . .

hi rimmon,

sometimes there are problems with TTQV and ECW files. An installation of the ERMapper software can help. Anyhow . . .
To avoid these problems with ECW files I will convert the TIFFs to JPG and upload a new ZIP archive.

stay tuned . . .

hi all,

if you have problems with the ECW version of the Blue Marble files you can try the JPG version. The images have reduced quality but the same amount of pixels (each part is 10800x10800). So you need WindowsXP (or Windows2000) and at least 500MB RAM to open this JPG files. If you have problems exporting the files to Pathaway, you can set the scale factor <1 or export the whole image in tiles.

Converted into JPG format and calibrated for TTQV : BlMrbJPG.zip (25.5MB)

have fun

Hi Anton,

would you be so kind to provide a set of Pathaway maps of this very nice NASA picture? I'm thinking of maps already converted using TTQV greatly reduced in size (maybe ten maps of 3000x3000 pixel each for the whole thing) in a zip archive (~15MB). I used the demo version of TTQV some months ago and it definetly gives highly accurate calibrated maps for use with Pathaway. For me converting maps to Pathaway format was the only application of TTQV, and (IMO) it is too expensive to be used just as that.

Best regards and thanx in advance,
Holger V.

The links to the map no longer work. Any chance of posting it again?
