Increase map calibration accuracy

Postby jdhaan » Sat Apr 01, 2006 8:34 pm

Hello,

I have maps which I convert to pathaway maps with the mapmanager. When entering the coordinates (WSG84, DD MM.mmmm) I can only add 5 digits after the dot and the last digit often gets round to above or below.
I have calibration coordinates of 6 digits after the dot, but I cannot enter the last digit.
As a result the roads on the map are not exactly the position I stand, there's a difference of about 10 to 20 metres, that also shows up in the downloaded tracks from internet.
Is it possible to add one more digit accuracy?
By the way, for the rest this is a great program, I enjoy it a lot.

Let me reply to my own message to give this forum some more dynamics:

For me Ozimapconverter helped a lot, you should try it:

Thanks for the tip Joost - I will definitely be giving this converter a try. Now if I could find a utility to allow me to download WMS online topo maps of Canada that include calibration info... (In either OziExplorer or Pathaway format...)

Something that would be very helpful for the Pathaway Map Manager- In "Calibration" mode, get rid of that big honking "donut" circle pointer thing and replace it with a single pixel surrounded by a large square or something. As it is now, it is very difficult to accurately position the cursor on a point because the circle cursor pointer obscures too much of the image. The pointer needs to be MUCH finer.

Only a Canadian would use the term "big honking Donut"
Ok, we'll make the cursor finer.

Also, the precision will be expanded by 1 digit for the next build (4.00.31)

And thanks from me, too, Scott. As another Canadian I also have problems with that great honking donut "cursor" and I will very much appreciate something that is finer. A "+" or crosshairs or whatever it's called with really skinny arms would be great.

How about the ability to import tracks into Map Manager, and overlay them on top of a map, and nudge the map for calibration?
