Nautical Charts in Pathaway

Postby Copper Moon » Wed Jan 11, 2006 3:10 am

I just acquired Pathaway to use on my Axim X5 with topographical maps. I have nautical charts in a XXXX.KAP format that I would like to use with Pathaway as well. I have tried to export the charts to Pathaway using the TTQV viewer software (3.0.75) that came with my maps, but this is not allowed with the viewer license.
Is there another way to bring the nautical charts into Pathaway?

Thanks
Glenn Davis

Contact Touratech. There may be a way to do this using TTQV.

Nautical charts to Pathaway

Postby alaskaflyer » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:15 pm

I just started using Pathaway because it has a lot of features that I need and don't get with Memory Map, but Memory Map does allow the import of free nautical charts from NOAA. They are in the .kap format that isn't supported by Pathaway(would like to see it though!) NOAA does have a free converter that converts the .kap charts to a .tiff, which can be changed in an image program or imported into Pathaway. They will need to be calibrated, unfortunately. The converter can be found here http://www.csc.noaa.gov/crs/chartreproj.html Make sure you choose Mercator for projection of the image will not be in the correct proportions.
