Windows Mobile Resources

Windows Mobile RCLocalize Project:

The Resources for Windows Mobile are provided as an RCLocalize Project. You will need RCLocalize in order to do the translation. Instructions are provided there. To obtain a copy of RCLocalize, please go to http://www.mootools.com and download the latest version.

PathAwayWMRsc.Zip.

Notes

  • RcLocalize 4.0 or higher required
  • Open the project and edit the strings associated the the language being translated.
  • For message alerts, they are divided into 3 sections Icon|Title|Message|Buttons. Do NOT edit the Icons, or Buttons. Leave them in English. The OS will insert the proper text. Ie. If the Button is:
    • CONFIRMATION|PathAway|Are you Sure?|Yes|No then do NOT translate CONFIRMATION or Yes|No
  • Be wary of String Lists. These are Text items ending with the name "StringList". These are a bunch of strings separated by '|' bars. They must exactly match the number in the English list. Compare each StringList with the English to ensure they match up.
  • Most new resources are prefixed by the "PW4".
  • If you want an item to remain in English, or the item contains only numbers then leave it BLANK. Our Compiler will replace blank items with the default English ones.

English Changes from PathAway 3 to PathAway 4

  • Most text has been carried over from Pathaway 3. The above file shows the changes made from Pathaway 3 to PathAway 4 to make it easier to find the changes needed to the .LOC file.

Must be unzipped inside your C:\PathAway3Manual folder in order for links to work.

The PathAway Full Installer is a Windows Executable which will guide you through the installation process. Contains all components in a Install program: PathAway Windows Mobile Executables for all platforms, Projected Library support, PathAway Tools for converting maps and icons, sample maps, icons, sampe track/route and point databases, user manual in PDF format.
 
Installs Windows Mobile Executables only. Includes: PathAway Windows Mobile Executables for all platforms, Projected Library support. Install this version if you are updating an existing installation.
 
Installs Windows Mobile Executables in CAB file format. Includes: PathAway Windows Mobile Executable, Projected Library support. Install this version if you are downloading directly to your Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC handheld.

The PathAway Installer is a Windows Executable which will guide you through the installation process. Contains all components in a single zip file: PathAway4.PRC, Projected Library support, MathLib.PRC, PathAway Tools for converting maps and icons, sample maps, icons, and databases.

Download this file to your Windows Desktop. Activate your Windows Desktop and run (Double click, or right click and select "Open") the PathAway4PalmInstall.exe located there.

 PathAway Palm Application. . Be sure to select "Open" when downloading the file (rather than "Save"). This will automatically add the file to your hot sync directory so that next time you hot sync the file will be installed on your Palm. You will still need MathLib.prc in order for PathAway to run.

Palm Floating Point Math Library. If you already have MathLib installed on your Palm, you can skip this step. Again, choose "Open" when downloading. Note, MathLib is included with most Handspring devices. This application rarely changes. You should only need to install it once.
    PathAway Map Projection and Datum Library. If you will be creating maps using special Map Projections or use a Map datum other than WGS84, you will need to install this library. along with the Libraries for the Map projections you will use. See the List of Map Projections to download the required library. Again, choose "Open" when downloading.
  Map Projection Libraries. Install only if you will be using one of the following map projections:
  • Transverse Mercator
  • Universal Transverse Mercator

Acquiring Screenshots on Windows Mobile Device

Here's the suggested method for acquiring the screenshots.

We use the free Pocket Screen Capture utility from CEToolbox.com . Just Capture all the screens on the PPC, then run bmp2png.exe (if you need to)

Example:
- Capture About screen. It gets name display_1.bmp
- Run ActiveSync,
- Choose Explorer.
- Go to the \Temp folder and Transfer the bmp to PC
- bmp2png -O dlgabout.png display_1.bmp
- The file dlgabout.png is now created. Copt this to your PathAwayWMScreens folder.

Palm OS Resources (NOT READY FOR TRANSLATION)

Palm OS Translation no longer requires the use of the Palm Resource Constrtuction Program. Instead, all translations from Windows Mobile will be copied to Text files and imported into Palm OS Resources. All the translator needs to do is translate the text files.

PalmOS Translation can begin on completion of Windows Mobile Translation.
